Getir Acquires FreshDirect from Ahold Delhaize

Getir, the ultrafast grocery delivery operator, has acquired US online grocer FreshDirect from Ahold Delhaize. The deal — expected to close by end of November — will keep the FreshDirect brand and New York operations intact while enabling Getir to expand its U.S. footprint and leverage FreshDirect's fresh-product assortment and distribution capabilities.

Uber Acquires Drizly for Approximately $1.1 Billion

Uber Technologies, Inc. has completed its acquisition of Drizly, the North American on-demand alcohol marketplace, for roughly $1.1 billion in stock and cash. Drizly will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary and its marketplace will be integrated into the Uber Eats app while maintaining a separate Drizly experience.

e& Acquires Majority Stake in Careem Technologies for $400M

Abu Dhabi-based tech group e& (formerly Etisalat) signed a binding agreement with Uber Technologies to acquire a 50.03% majority stake in the newly spun-out Careem Technologies for $400 million. The spinout — which will focus on scaling the Careem super app (food and grocery delivery, digital payments, and other on-demand services) — was announced by Careem; Uber's exact remaining stake in the spinout is not disclosed and the ride-hailing business was reported as still owned by Uber.

Pango Acquires Gett

Smart mobility platform Pango has acquired ride-hailing and ground-transportation company Gett from shareholders VNV, Access Industries and MCI Capital for $175 million. The deal, subject to Israeli Competition Authority approval, will keep Gett's global teams intact as Pango supports Gett’s growth in the ride-hailing and delivery markets in Israel and the United Kingdom.

Wonder Acquires Grubhub for $650 Million

Wonder, a food-hall and “super app” platform, announced it will acquire Grubhub, the U.S. food ordering and delivery marketplace, from Just Eat Takeaway.com for an enterprise value of $650 million. Completion is expected in Q1 2025, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Getaround Acquires Substantially All Assets of HyreCar

Getaround (NYSE: GETR) will acquire substantially all assets of HyreCar Inc., integrating HyreCar’s gig carsharing service into Getaround’s connected carsharing marketplace. The transaction (expected to close on or about May 15, 2023) is intended to expand Getaround’s supply and capabilities for rideshare and delivery drivers and strengthen its position in the carsharing market.
