Nutricia (Danone) Acquires Real Food Blends

Nutricia, part of Danone's Specialized Nutrition business, has acquired Real Food Blends, a Chesterton, Indiana-based maker of 100% real-food meals for people who rely on feeding tubes. The founders, Julie and Tony Bombacino, will remain in their roles as CEO and President while Nutricia intends to scale the Real Food Blends portfolio and expand its reach through Nutricia/Danone's broader distribution and clinical channels.

The deal (terms undisclosed) includes a 240,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Danville, Virginia with approximately 525 full-time employees and rights to the Buitoni brand in the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean; Buitoni Food Company will be headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.
