I Squared Capital, via its ISQ Global Infrastructure Fund III, signed a definitive agreement to acquire VLS Environmental Solutions from Aurora Capital Partners. The deal was expected to close in Q3 2022 and the transaction has been reported as closed as of August 18, 2022. VLS provides ESG-focused waste management and specialty cleaning and repair services for regulated industries across North America.

VLS Environmental Solutions Acquires Safety Railway Service

VLS Environmental Solutions, a portfolio company of I Squared Capital, has acquired Safety Railway Service (SRS), expanding VLS' railcar cleaning and repair footprint from three to twelve locations. The acquisition brings SRS's full-service railcar repair, fabrication and cleaning capabilities into VLS's Railcar Cleaning and Repair Services division; terms were not disclosed.

VLS Environmental Solutions, a Houston-based platform backed by I Squared Capital, has acquired Texas Molecular, a Deer Park- and Corpus Christi-based provider of hazardous and non-hazardous liquid industrial waste handling, treatment and sequestration. The acquisition expands VLS's capabilities into hazardous waste processing and sequestration; Texas Molecular manages over 75 million gallons annually and the combined platform now has more than 1,000 employees and 38 locations across North America.

The deal is an add‑on to VLS (a portfolio company of I Squared Capital) and expands the combined company’s hazardous and non‑hazardous waste management service offerings and sustainability capabilities.

The deal expands VLS’s West Coast waste management logistics and processing network and adds capacity via IDR’s 10-day hazardous waste transfer facility in Azusa, California.

VLS Recovery Acquires JBR Environmental Services

The add-on expands VLS's waste management and industrial cleaning capabilities in the Southeastern United States and the JBR facility will operate within VLS's Waste division with Rex Russell continuing to run the business.
