Platinum Equity has signed an agreement to sell Unical Aviation, a global provider of aerospace aftermarket solutions, to Satair, an Airbus company. The transaction also includes Unical’s subsidiary ecube Solutions, which provides aircraft storage, disassembly, and transition services, with expected completion in early 2026 subject to regulatory approvals.

Baird Capital Invests in eCube Solutions

Baird Capital, the direct investment arm of Robert W. Baird & Co., has acquired an interest in eCube Solutions Limited, a UK-based provider of aircraft storage, disassembly and parts re-use and recycling services. The investment will fund expansion of eCube's UK operations, accelerate growth at its new continental European facility in Spain, expand parking and disassembly capacity, and support entry into the North American market.

Platinum Equity Acquires Unical Aviation

Platinum Equity has completed the acquisition of Unical Aviation Inc. and certain affiliates (Unical MRO, Unical 145 and Unical Aero) from affiliates of the company's founders. Unical, headquartered in City of Industry, California, is a leading aftermarket supplier of aircraft parts and MRO services with more than 85 million parts in inventory and over 450 employees; Platinum Equity said it will invest to accelerate growth and enhance Unical's position in the global aerospace aftermarket.

Unical Aviation Acquires CAVU Component Repair LLC

The Mesa, Arizona facility (80,000 sq ft) expands Unical's third-party component repair capabilities; financial terms were not disclosed. Unical is PE-backed by Platinum Equity.

Basalt Infrastructure Partners Acquires Unilode Aviation Solutions from EQT Infrastructure

Basalt Infrastructure Partners has agreed to acquire Unilode Aviation Solutions from the EQT Infrastructure II fund. Unilode, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, is the global market leader in unit load device (ULD) leasing and associated maintenance and digital services; the deal is expected to close in Q3 2021 as a portfolio divestiture by EQT.
