Savvy Games Group Acquires Scopely for $4.9 Billion

Savvy Games Group, a Saudi Arabia–based games and esports company owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has agreed to acquire mobile games developer and publisher Scopely for $4.9 billion. The acquisition will add Scopely’s development capabilities, publishing infrastructure and live-services expertise to Savvy’s portfolio to accelerate growth and expand its global games footprint; the deal is subject to regulatory approval.

The transaction will bring Niantic’s full game development teams and live games/apps—including Pokémon GO, Pikmin Bloom, Monster Hunter Now, and companion services Campfire and Wayfarer—into the Scopely portfolio. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and Scopely says it has since closed the acquisition on May 29, 2025.
