H.I.G. Capital, through an affiliate, completed the acquisition of Pixelle Specialty Solutions Holding LLC. Pixelle is a North American producer of fiber-based specialty papers and sustainable packaging products, operating four specialty paper mills across Ohio, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

BillerudKorsnäs to acquire Verso Corporation

BillerudKorsnäs has agreed to acquire Verso Corporation, a leading North American coated paper producer, for approximately USD 825 million in cash (USD 27.00 per share). The deal, expected to close in Q2 2022 subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, gives BillerudKorsnäs a North American platform and includes plans to convert Verso assets into paperboard capacity with up to SEK 9 billion of estimated capex.

Pixelle Acquires Rollsource and Appvion Carbonless Rolls & Security Papers Business

Pixelle Specialty Solutions (a Lindsay Goldberg-backed specialty paper platform) acquired two specialty papers businesses: Rollsource from Veritiv Corporation and the carbonless rolls and security papers business from Appvion Operations Inc. The Rollsource purchase includes a converting facility in Pittsburg, Kansas, while the Appvion transaction included no production assets — Pixelle will manufacture those products at its Chillicothe, Ohio mill. These add-ons expand Pixelle's product portfolio in carbonless and security papers and broaden its service to forms printers and related customers.

Ahlstrom Completes Acquisition of Stevens Point Facility

Ahlstrom completed its acquisition of the Stevens Point facility, a high-end provider of food and consumer packaging and e-commerce applications, from Pixelle Specialty Solutions. The purchase adds finishing and coating capabilities and brings the site’s 260 employees into Ahlstrom’s Food & Consumer Packaging segment.

Monomoy Capital Partners, a private equity firm, has acquired Mac Papers, Inc., Mac Paper Converters, Inc. and All Square Digital Solutions, Inc., a leading regional distributor of paper, packaging, envelopes and wide-format products headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. Mac Papers operates across the Southeastern United States with approximately $600 million in annual sales and roughly 950 employees; Monomoy said it will partner with management to grow the business and advance strategic and operational initiatives.
